Winter Sister Farm

Winter Sister Farm in Sebastopol is helping to fill the colder season gaps in local produce with their unique model focused on winter crops.

Winter Sister Farm is owned by sisters Anna and Sarah Dozor who grew up in Sonoma County and came to farming through different paths, but with a shared love of good food grown well and a commitment to sustainable agriculture. Anna was inspired by her time working at West County Community Farm (at the time Green Valley Farm) by their CSA model. She saw a need for more local produce in the winter and a CSA focused on this cooler time of year. The farm cultivates your standard hardy favorites (potatoes, winter squash, onions, broccoli, kale), as well as some exciting specialty crops (dried beans, dried peppers). They also raise a small flock of Jacob sheep for meat, fiber, and land management.

Though not certified organic, the farm follows organic principles and beyond-organic standards for the health of the soil and the people who work it. They focus on soil health through cover cropping, grazing their sheep in the cover crop, applying compost to increase organic matter & fertility and cultivating & harvesting by hand.
