Coastal Hill Farm
Rolling green hills and bright blue skies greet you as you pull into Coastal Hill Farm, a small, regenerative egg farm located in Petaluma’s “dairy country.”
Established in 2011 with Bobby Foehr at the helm, Coastal Hill Farm started working with FEED during the early days, around 2013 and became FEED members when the co-op formed in 2021. The farm is clean and tidy and Bobby is passionate about utilizing the 70 acres he has to create a healthy environment for his 2,500 birds. The chickens rotate around the property in a mix of mobile coops and a central barn where they congregate in the winter for dry warmth.
The birds are mostly the Tetra Brown breed, but there's a smattering of unique breeds as well, shuffling around in rice hull bedding Bobby uses in the barn. The animals have ample water, food, and protection from a crew of sweet, big livestock guardian dogs. The birds’ enjoy fresh pumpkins (from his pumpkin patch) and dried flint corn, grown on the farm, as part of their diet.
